Trinidad Easter 2013
Easter is a christian festival celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day after his crucifixion on Calvary, as described in the New Testament.
Easter is preceded by Lent, a period of forty days of fasting, prayer and penance. The last week of Lent is called Holy Week, and it contains the days of the Easter Triduum such as Holy Thursday, commemorating the Last Supper, Good Friday, commemorating the crucifixion and death of Jesus.
Easter is followed by a period of fifty days called Easter season which ends on Pentecost Sunday. In 2013, Palm Sunday is 24 March 2013, Maundy Thursday is 28 March 2013, Good Friday is on 29 March 2013 and Easter Sunday is 31 March 2013.
Easter is recognized as a religious holiday worldwide, it is traditionally marked in Trinidad and Tobago with two public holidays which is Good friday (29 March 2013) and Easter Monday (1 April 2013)
